Getting Started

Starting with IDA 9.3, Teams is now fully integrated into IDA itself. This enables collaboration on reverse-engineering projects directly within IDA, with no external applications (like HVUI GUI interface) required. This unified, integrated experience is available for both standard Teams users and administrators. Most widget names, commands, and workflows remain familiar if you previously used HVUI.

Prerequisites

• IDA Pro 9.3 installed and active IDA license with Teams add-on

• Teams server (also called the "Hex-Rays Vault server") installed/set up by the administrator

Getting Started with Integrated Teams for Admins

1. Launch IDA 9.3. In the Quick Start dialog, click Go to work locally, then navigate to Teams → Connect and write the server address and the credentials.

Admins can connect to the Hex-Rays Vault Server without an active license.

1. Open Users view by navigating to Teams → Connect → Users.

2. Update the list of users allowed to use the Hex-Rays Vault Server.

Getting Started with Integrated Teams for Users

Follow the flow for first-time users with no repositories.

1. Launch IDA 9.3. In the Quick Start dialog, click Go to work locally, then navigate to Teams → Connect.

1. Connect to the Teams server. In the Connect to server dialog, enter your server and user details. On your first connection, you will be prompted to choose a work root directory, where you want the repository to be checked out. After connecting, you can see your server, user information, and root directory path in the bottom-right corner of the IDA window.

1. Browse and open available remote files via Vault Files view. The Vault Files window opens automatically. Double-click any file to fetch it and open it in a new IDA instance.

1. Check out the full repository. To download the entire repository to your local workspace, right-click in the Vault Files window and select Get the latest revision….

In the Quick start dialog (1), you can start from clicking Remote as well. It will list all of your remote repositories, if you have any already.

You are ready to work on your files in IDA as you used to.

Committing Your Changes

After modifying files, right-click and select Scan and Commit from the context menu.

A dialog will appear listing all detected changes. Enter a commit message, then click Commit to immediately push your changes to the remote repository, or click Save to store them in your worklist without pushing.

FAQ

Can I have multiple IDA instances opened at the same remote repository?

You can have multiple IDA instances opened at the same time, but running actions on the same IDA Databases from different instances might create conflicts between those.

Why Teams top-level menu items are grayed out?

Make sure that you have a license with the Teams Add-on. To verify this, go to Help → License Manager..., and select a license with the TEAMS item listed in the Add-on column. If the license is not already loaded, you have to manually select it.
