# Operand types

This submenu allows you to change the operand types to offsets, numbers, chars, etc. Use it to make disassembled text more understandable.

* [Convert operand to offset](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types/offset.md)
* [Convert operand to number](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types/number.md)
* [Convert operand to character](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types/convert-operand-to-character.md)
* [Convert operand to segment](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types/convert-operand-to-segment.md)
* [Convert operand to enum](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types/convert-operand-to-symbolic-constant-enum.md)
* [Convert operand to stack variable](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types/convert-operand-to-stack-variable.md)
* [Change operand sign](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types/change-operand-sign.md)
* [Bitwise negate operand](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types/bitwise-negate-operand.md)
* [User-defined operand](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types/user-defined-operand.md)
* [Set operand type](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types/set-operand-type.md)

If IDA suspects that an operand can be represented as something different from a plain number, it will mark the operand as "suspicious" and show it in red. Use these commands to delete [suspicious](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/search.md#search-for-next-suspicious-operand) marks.

Some of these commands can be applied to a selected range. Click [here](/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types/perform-en-masse-operation.md) to learn about the rules applied to such operations.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.hex-rays.com/9.0sp1/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/operand-types.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
