# Rename Any Address

```
 Action    name: MakeAnyName
 
```

This command gives name/renames/deletes [name](/8.5/user-guide/disassembler/navigation/how-to-enter-an-identifier.md) for the specified address. This is a more powerful variant of [Rename](/8.5/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/edit/give-name-to-the-location.md) command.

To delete a name, simply give an empty name.

If the specified address is referenced, you cannot delete its name. Even if you try it, IDA will generate a [dummy](/8.5/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/options.md#names-representation) name.

This command is available only from the [name window](/8.5/user-guide/user-interface/menu-bar/view/open-subviews.md#names-window).
